The ISB MS 1:1 Teacher Preparation Program

Well, this really has been quite a process. Ever since Dr. Sands intimated a desire for a one-to-one laptop program two years ago, we have seen through a mass of preparation. This has included: committee formation; survey collection; research-study and pilot program analysis; rationale building; cost analysis; board presentations; budget approval; hardware, software, and infrastructure sourcing and upgrades; policy writing;  parent information evenings; and now, educator meetings and preparation program.

The content and context of a purposeful teacher preparation program include;
  1. tinkering with online and desktop applications that augment learning (what)
  2. learning practical approaches to integrating technology (how)
  3. establishing habits to model in front of our students (us)
  4. developing a set of standards for 1:1 classroom management (engaged students)
  5. building a community of collaboration and support amongst staff (collegiality)
  6. improving the organization of, and communication in, day to day teaching (administration)
  7. encouraging student and parent communication (community)
